Away from the dark side (Lab drama )

It's been a while since I last posted on this blog. During that time, I've been trying out new hobbies like extreme couponing, becoming a world-class procrastinator, and trying to break the world record for the longest hours spent listening to music. I've also spent a decent amount of time trying to come up with a good excuse for why I haven't been posting on here. Ideas I've considered include: I was abducted by aliens and just recently returned to Earth, I got lost in a maze made out of paper towels, and I accidentally set my laptop on fire while trying to make pizza in the microwave. Alies or not I'm excited to be back and share fresh content with you!

Here is a lab drama submission

As a PhD student in a molecular biology lab, I have seen firsthand how intense the competition can be within academia. In my lab, we have a group of highly motivated and talented PhD students who are constantly pushing each other to be the best.

One student, let's call him "John," had been working on a particular protein for his thesis project for over a year. He had made some promising findings and was eager to publish his results. However, another student in the lab, "Mary," had also been studying the same protein and had made some similar discoveries.

When John found out about Mary's work, he was understandably upset. He had put in countless hours of hard work and was worried that his efforts would be overshadowed by Mary's findings. However, rather than letting the competition get the best of them, John and Mary decided to work together and combine their findings into a joint publication.

The collaboration ended up being a success, and the paper was published in a prestigious scientific journal. Both John and Mary were recognized for their contributions, and the lab received a lot of attention for the groundbreaking discovery.

While competition can be a natural and healthy part of academia, it's important to remember that ultimately, we are all working towards the same goal: to make new discoveries and advance the field of science. By collaborating and supporting each other, we can achieve even greater success

Ok this is a lab drama with happy ending 🤧  and I love  a healthy competition!

On a personal note, I can't believe it's already been six months of nonstop research, classes, and endless homeworks. But hey, at least I survived the first semester of my PhD!

With love,

Your favorite scientist.
