My birth, my sign, my name....
I once asked my mom to tell me my birth story. One part of the story will always be etched in my heart.
“it took me 3 days! 3 good days! I thought that was the end! In Fact I was seeing things already”, she said.To think she was in labor for that long is something that amazes me till now. She also mentioned how my dad was panicking and hitting his head on the walls outside the hospital ward...(which we still laugh about to date)
He named me Oluwatoyosi Aanuoluwapo.
I later changed Aanuoluwapo to MERCY its English translation in high school. I also gave myself the name Elisabeth in high school hence the name Lisa.
They say the month you are born tells a lot about your personality. I was born on a Friday morning in August meaning I am Leo do you think I exhibit all the traits of a Leo?
The more I think of my mum's experience with my birth, the more I get scared of the thought of having a child one day. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids but the thought of going into labor scares the hell out of me. Do you believe not having a child makes me less of a woman? or do you also think I am just another sad feminist?
Oh, did I also mention that in Nigeria, especially in my tribe when a woman gets married she is expected to have a child in the first year of marriage. Well, things are changing, people no longer think that way but then, they still expect a child (biological )from you.
M, I think I suffer from tokophobia...
With love,
Oluwatoyosi
