I got a letter!
Dear M,
I got a letter from a friend which I will be sharing with you
Dear Toyosi,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. Circumstances like the post you saw abound everywhere, as sad as that sounds.
First, the strength of 'the woman' is immensely admirable, even if a man could, I don't think he can bear the rigours of child bearing. A woman should absolutely get to decide if she wants a baby or not.
When a woman who doesn't want a baby gets told "you'll change your mind" the person saying that is probably thinking "when you get to see how beautiful and precious the gift of a child is, you'd definitely change your mind" And it's true, people do change their minds.
I believe, that gender role is settled, only a woman can conceive biologically speaking. The goal is to stress the right of a woman over her own body especially in patriarchal societies and when it's within the institution of marriage, try to strike a balance. Please do write me again, I love to hear your perspectives on life's issues
J.
With love
Oluwatoyosi,
Crvena
